Robin Radar Shortlisted in Offshore Wind Innovation Challenge!

Robin Radar Shortlisted in Offshore Wind Innovation Challenge!

Robin Radar Systems has been shortlisted in the Offshore Wind Innovation Challenge!

Our entry is to limit/prevent the impact of offshore wind farms on birds.

The competition is organised by Offshore Wind Innovators. From their website:

"The Dutch offshore wind industry is recognised for its experience, expertise and innovation skills. To make offshore wind more affordable, reliable and sustainable, game-changing innovations are necessary. They will give offshore wind the best position in the energy system, both in the Netherlands and internationally. That’s why Offshore Wind Innovators has taken the initiative to launch the Offshore Wind Innovation Challenge."

There are 5 different challenges, issued by SeaZip, TKI Wind op Zee and Gemini.

TKI Wind op Zee would specifically like to see a new and smart technological innovation to prevent bird impact and/or minimise disturbance.

They are also interested in innovative research design which improves monitoring and mitigates the impact on specific bird species, asking the question:

"What is the impact of offshore wind farms on birds?"

Now if there ever were a challenge tailor-made for Robin; we reckon this one comes pretty close!

15 organisations have been shortlisted in total: 6 start-ups, 1 university, 2 partnerships, 8 SME’s, and 1 Research Institute. 11 are Dutch organisations, 2 from the UK, 1 from Italy and 1 from Israel.

The next round is on September 24th. Wish us luck!
